Are you a professional in the science, math or technology fields?  Do you enjoy working with children and shaping minds?  Do you want to make a difference in the lives of young girls but aren't able to make a long term commitment?  Then this one-time volunteer opportunity on October 24 from noon to 3 PM is for you!

Science Club for Girls is an organization that was recently voted the *2009 Nonprofit of the Year *by the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce! We provide free afterschool programming to girls in grades K to 7 in 10 week programs.  We also have one time volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups who do not have a lot of time to spare right now but still want to help make a difference.

Our first one-time opportunity of this school year is in Boston and will be on a Saturday afternoon at the end of this **October 24 at Wentworth Institute of Technology at "Show Me The Science", a unique event that can best be described as a reverse science fair - where the adults present to the youth.  You, or a team, can sign up to have a table with a specific experiment or demonstration that provides a 10 - 12 minute engagement to girls in 2nd - 6th grade.

We encourage tables to be hands on provide a "bite-sized" bit of knowledge. The girls will rotate from station to station in groups of 3-6  and as they rotate and see all the different demonstrations, they will be exposed to different areas of science, technology, math and engineering.  Exposing the youth to all of these areas will help them see and learn about all the wonders of these fields and your presence allows the girls to see that they can become strong women who can pursue these careers.

***If you are unable to volunteer to be a presenter we are also looking for youth and adult volunteers to help setup and break down, as well as to be team leaders at the event.

To get a better idea of what this event is all about, please take a look at the photo gallery of our previous Show Me The Science events at the Newton fair and the Tobin fair:
