The 50th Smoot Anniversary Celebration includes and entire day of activities for Saturday, October 4, 2008. The MIT community commemorates that fall day when Ollie Smoot '62 started on way to becoming a measurement icon. Ollie and many other notables will be on hand for this day. There are plenty of otions for students, alums and their families, and others from the extended MIT community. Current planned events include a Charles River Cleanup, dedicating a new plaque on the Bridge, local MIT tours, and a nostalgic 50's party in the MIT Museum that evening. Our Club will be co-sponsoring the day, along with the MIT Class of ’62, and Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, which has dutifully repainted the markings these last fifty years. For details and registration, please see http://web.mit.edu/smoot/.
