Join us this Thursday, March 15th at 6pm at the Broad Institute for this 

exciting career event!

 

Are you successful at your job but still don't feel fulfilled? Are you

having second thoughts about staying in graduate school? Did you have

other dreams before science and engineering became your life? If you

answered 'yes' to any of these questions, then you may want to come

hear what our panelists have to say. The panel features four MIT alumni

who each have forged a unique path:

 

Andy Bloch - Professional poker player and member of the MIT

Blackjack Team, Andy finished second in the 2006 World Series of

Poker HORSE event. In total, he has won close to $3,000,000

playing poker tournaments. Andy holds B.S. & M.Eng. degrees in

Electrical Engineering at MIT, as well as a law degree from Harvard.


Greer Tan Swiston - A former IT executive at Fidelity and Merrill

Lynch who ran for Massachusetts State Rep and is currently a

candidate for local office. Greer also works part time as a

Project Manager, a Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay Inc., teaches

Chinese to pre-schoolers, and leads the Tumbling Tots program at

the local YMCA. She received her B.S. in Computer Science from

MIT.


Stever Robbins - A businessperson and entrepreneur since the late

1970s, Stever co-founded the early internet success story FTP

Software, and has been a part of nine high-tech startups, three

IPOs, and three acquisitions. He is currently an executive coach.

Stever holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a B.S. in

Computer Science from MIT.

 

Rocklyn Clarke - Senior Pastor and founder of Life Church

Ministries, Rocklyn was a programmer and then senior project

manager at the Information Systems Department here at the

Institute. Rocklyn received his B.S. in Physics from MIT.

The second part of the event features a career workshop where you

will receive top notch training from executive coach Stever Robbins.

7:45 - 9:00 Finding the Right Career For You: Insights From An Executive Coach

 

The event will be held at the auditorium of the BROAD INSTITUTE,

located at 7 Cambridge Center, next to the Kendall T-stop. Parking is

free in the MIT BIOLOGY LOT ACROSS THE STREET after 5pm. 

Tickets are $12 at the door ($10 for MIT Club of Boston members).

This event is FREE for MIT students with valid ID. Advanced 

registration is now closed.  Seating will be on a first-come first-serve 

basis.  So please plan to arrive early.  This event is subsidized 

for students via a Graduate Student Life grant to encourage 

participation.  Pizza will be served at 6pm!
