| Research in the McGovern Institute extends from molecules to mind, taking broad approach to the brain mechanisms of perception, attention, and motor control that are commonly impaired in brain disorders ranging from schizophrenia to Parkinson's Disease. Following a review of research, Robert Desimone, Director, McGovern Institute, and Professor of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, MIT will describe some of his recent work, which suggests that the ability to focus attention on the task at hand depends on mechanisms that syncronize the timing of activity in distributed neural circuits. |
